If you’ve ever visited my hometown or what I consider my hometown of Amador county in California, there’s a little town called Volcano.
Volcano has hosted and boasted many of the finest chefs and restaurants. I’ve happened to work under two of the finest dining establishments in our area. Well, before I even knew what food was my grandparents had taken me to a restaurant called the jug and Rose in Volcano. What was the smallest breakfast shop in town had the most amazing pancakes. Sourdough pancakes, pancakes made from a starter from what was told to me 100 years ago. A now friend and previous employee at my restaurant in Sutter Creek, owned the Jug and Rose and I believe it was her families recipe. After visiting with friends and sharing a few bags of our Swedish Oatmeal Pancake Mix - I got the call! “ These are just like the pancakes at the JUG!”
